DEREK MURRAY

All my life I have been driven by the need to communicate by either drawing or painting. Each work that I undertake draws me in a different direction leading me to explore and develop. I gain inspiration from other artists past and present and the world around me. I enjoy trying new ways of creating the illusion I require and communicating the feeling I want to invoke.

Some people say painting is a relaxing process. Well I can tell you that I find it far from relaxing. Yes it is exhilarating when a work is finished and it is even better when someone wants to spend their hard earned cash on one of my pieces.

All forms of art are subjective, but the positive response towards my work has enthused me. Now I face a clean white canvas and have to make that first mark and jump into my own world and become lost in the process.
