| Living in India brings out bright and bold colors in my works and
most recently I have used Sanskrit text also. Sanskrit is an ancient
Indian language that is over 4000 years old said to be the language
of the Gods. I started learning yoga a few years ago and picked
up the meanings of the yoga asanas which are all in Sanskrit. From
there I went on to learn Sanskrit. If you hear this amazing language,
the chants uttered are so rhythmic, clear and beautiful that it
is no wonder they say they have meditative properties. I use proverbs,
poems and prayers in my art and work around the words. And it is
not only listening to the language that is important to my art,
but the written words too are just so artistic in themselves that
I am able to create so fluidly. |
