Mario Percy
Percy is a great artist. He was born into a family of artist in Haiti
where he grew up along side great artistic names like Andre Normil, Prefet
Dufaut, Valcin2, Murat St. Vil, Yves Gerome, Blaise Pascale, Valbrun 2,
and so many others. He made his first sculpture when he was four, started
painting when he was six and has won many competitions through the years
( First price 'UNICEF' ti moune se l'espouaw demen) (Three time first
price handcraft free style in metal sculpture at Jacmel promoted by Org.
Usaid-Pret) and so many others.
Mario Percy is now resident on Saint Maarten (Netherlands Antilles) for
the past seven years working for Philipsburg Liquor Store painting the
Rum Jumbie bottles and also paints 'GINGERBREAD' the old traditional Haitian
houses which date back to the beginning of the 20th century, which is
a testimony to a historic past that is fast being forgotten today. Every
architectural detail is treated with care. Mario Percy's paintings are
a cry for the loss of those beautiful 'GINGERBREAD' traditions.
