Sammi Smith
A Lancastrian by birth, I currently live amongst the beautiful landscape
of the Peak District with my Guide Dog, Jenks.
It's an amazing part of the world and with an almost untouched scenery
that has inspired artists for centuries. I count myself lucky to be here,
although the loss of a large portion of my eyesight some years ago, does
mean that I tend to see the landscape a little differently than perhaps
those around me.
Detail has been replaced with bold blocks of colours and focus has shifted
from a panoramic view, down to the simplistic lines of an individual object.
It's a weird way of seeing things, but one i've grown accustomed to and
adapted to with time. It's also a world that I try to convey in my artwork.
An 'almost there' world that I like to share with others.
