ROBERT A FORD

I studied fine art at the Luton School of Art in the sixties, focusing mainly on sculpture and woodcarving. From there I went into the costume jewellery industry for a period. At this time my interest in photography also developed, but only on an amateur, spare-time basis and it was to remain like that for over twenty years.

The need to provide for a family took me in a very different direction and I had a long second career in the corporate finance industry, a significant contrast to my beginnings. I began to take a more serious approach to photography with the establishment of a home studio in 1985. Although still working in commerce full time, I built up a portrait and portfolio practice, eventually going full time in 1991 and diversifying into commercial work.
